Yes, In recent times purified water is becoming cheaper in rural area, particularly in Andhra pradesh. As most parts of Andhra pradesh is depending on ground water for daily usages like drinking and cooking and day by day water levels are falling down, it is affecting on quality of the water.
People started using Reverse Osmosis membrane technology to treat the high salinity ground water. It increased drastically for the last 5 to 6 years. NGO'S are donating water treatment plants to the villagers, some places villagers are contributing amounts to install water treatment plants and Rural Banks are giving loans to youth by starting schemes for them for self employment.
As number of MNC's entered into coutry, like Dow/Filmtec, Hydronautics and GE who are original manufacturers of membranes, making easy for water purifier manufacturers, to maintain sufficiant stocks to meet the requirment of end users.
As per my observation 20 Liters of purified water is costing only Rs.2/- only. that means 10 paise per liter.
It is good to see that, people are not depending on governament for installation of the plant. We have to appreciate the role of NGO'S in installing the water purifiers and maintaining them. Many other big companies have to take a step ahead to contribute their part to help the rural india. And also Bank sectors have to start giving new loan schemes to the youth of the rural india.
So that people get work and purified and healty water, which is primary need for every human being.
I hope, the price even comes down so that every common man gets purified water at affordable price.

Yes mr.laxmikant's view is right, even i observed the same thing. Mineral water is entering into the villages very fast. One way it is good sign only. Because it is giving wealth to the rural youth

Purified water is must in recent days, nobody is ready to consume municipal water. Every body trying to take purified packaged drinking water. As it is under comfortable pricing it is ok, it is an welcoming sign.
